Letter from the President

Welcome to the first research-focused edition of New Mexico State University’s Panorama Magazine, replacing NMSU’s Research & Resources magazine. With this addition, NMSU alumni and friends will now receive three editions of Panorama each year:

in the fall, winter andspring.

The new Panorama-Research Edition will carry on our decade-long tradition of providing an annual report on the excellence in research taking place in our labs, fields and classrooms, but will also combine some of the elements readers are used to finding in the pages of Panorama’s regular fall and spring editions.

This new approach will allow us to continue to bring news of the best and brightest research activity, but will also view the university with a broader lens, to include other important scholarly and creative activity happening throughout our campuses.

One of the hallmarks of NMSU is the outstanding opportunity we provide for students to gain valuable research experience while completing their undergraduate studies.

Whether it’s assisting a professor in a lab setting or participating in a campus-wide program like the Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium, our students have many ways to get involved with meaningful, important research activities.

We hope you’ll enjoy exploring the pages of this new edition of Panorama as it chronicles the many ways we are helping our students open new doors to learning, spark new ideas and innovations, and participate in life-changing research and creative experiences.
