The Pistol Pete statue outside of Corbett Center Student Union on the NMSU Las Cruces campus reminded visitors, students, faculty and staff to wear masks during the first day of the fall semester 2020. Following the State of New Mexico’s health guidelines, the university required everyone to wear masks and practice social distancing of at least six feet in all public spaces. Students starting the semester acknowledged the “Crimson Commitment,” which reinforced guidelines about social distancing, mask-wearing and hand-washing, as well as the requirement to report a positive COVID-19 test result immediately to the Aggie Health & Wellness Center.
