For the first time in its history, Aggie Shark Tank in 2022 involved students from both NMSU and the University of Texas at El Paso who competed for funding and valuable advice from a panel of local “sharks.”
The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship is the sponsor of Aggie Shark Tank, an event where Arrowhead Center at NMSU provides student entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their ideas to investors. Former NMSU Chancellor Dan Arvizu and UTEP President Heather Wilson each contributed $1,000 toward the $5,000 Shark Favorite award, which went to UTEP graduate Chelsea Lamego, founder and CEO of FundMiner, an online platform that incorporates algorithms to ease the administrative functions of fundraising organizations.
Tianna Zambrano ’22 won the Crowd Favorite award of $2,000. Zambrano is creating an innovative sensory medical device in the receptive and expressive language field that will help people overcome barriers in communication.
All six participating ventures received a $1,000 Hunt Entrepreneur Encouragement Award.
