Aggie golfers compete on world stage in Paris Olympics

pair of former Aggie women’s golfers competed in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Alena Sharp ’03 represented Team Canada and Ursula Wikström represented Team Finland. Sharp finished tied for 42nd and Wikström finished 57th. 

In her third Olympic appearance, Sharp shot 9-over par, 297 on the par-72, 6,374-yard course. She carded an opening round 1-under par, 71 and concluded the four-round tournament with a 1-over par, 73. 

Sharp has been playing professionally on the LPGA Tour since 2005, and as of June 2024 she has 16 career top-10 finishes. As an Aggie, Sharp was the Sun Belt Conference Female Athlete of the Year and a NCAA First Team All-American in 2003.

In her second Olympic appearance, Wikström recorded a 19-over par, 307. She carded a pair of even-par, 72 rounds on the second and fourth days of the tourney. 

Wikström, who joined the Ladies European Tour in 2004, was a Women’s Golf Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American in 2000-01 as an Aggie.

As a member of Team Canada, Alena Sharp has competed in three Olympics. She made her Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 and played in Tokyo in 2020 and Paris in 2024.
