Ramsey honored as 4-H outstanding volunteer

Katie Ramsey ’10 was named the 2024 Western Region Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer for her exceptional volunteer service to the NMSU Cooperative Extension Service’s Otero County 4-H Youth Development Program.

“Representing New Mexico 4-H and our 4-H families is a privilege and honor,” Ramsey says. “I am so grateful for the amazing 4-H members I work with daily.”

Ramsey began working as a 4-H agent for the Otero County Extension Service in 2008. After two years, she became a 4-H project leader when she transitioned to a full-time, stay-at-home parent. Several years later, Ramsey became an organizational 4-H club leader. As the Heritage 4-H club leader, she consistently has one of the largest 4-H club youth enrollments in Otero County.

“I love seeing 4-H members discover an area they enjoy, work hard in that area and gain confidence in themselves,” Ramsey says. “From public speaking to leadership to showing livestock, 4-H offers youth life skills, and it is wonderful to see 4-H members discover their potential.”
