What makes a city great?

"Culture plays a crucial role in shaping the identity and character of any city. It’s a reflection of the city’s history, its traditions and its heritage. A city’s culture provides its residents with a sense of identity and helps create a unique character that distinguishes one city from another.

A rich cultural scene, including museums, galleries, theaters and festivals, provides opportunities for residents to come together, fostering a sense of community and social cohesion. Events like Dia de los Muertos, WinterFest (in El Paso) and wine festivals are just a few great examples of cultural events that make our southwest communities so amazing. It’s heartwarming to see extended families and friends come together at these events, which not only improve our city’s quality of life, but they also draw out tourists and bring economic benefits.

Our culture is integral to our identity, economic vitality, social fabric and overall charm. Investing in and nurturing our cultural assets contributes to the well-being of our residents and strengthens the long-term success and sustainability of our communities.”
