In July 2025, Vanetta Busch was named the director of Hazing Prevention and Organizational Development at NMSU after spending two years as NMSU’s Center for Learning and Professional Development director.
The initiative’s objective is to ensure the safety and well-being of all campus community members and to cultivate a more supportive and inclusive educational environment. The initiative is a collaboration between Student Life, Athletics, and Housing and Residence Life.
“Changing culture has to resonate with each NMSU employee, faculty, student and staff. The first step in changing a culture is to build hazing awareness,” Busch says.
This fall, Busch led the launch of mandatory Title IX training, RespectEdu for College, for all students, and a series of interactive campus engagement activities during the Anti-Hazing Prevention Week. Additionally in the fall 2025 semester, Busch worked with students in her management course to design a train-the-trainer module for the NMSU campus community.
