NMSU debuted a new leadership program, the 1888 Leadership Initiative, for first-time freshmen in August 2025. The event included activities such as team-building exercises, community and social events, leadership initiative meetings, and concluded with freshmen convocation. The program’s goal is to build leadership skills that are essential to being a successful Aggie: advocate, grit, gratitude, integrity, execute and service.
